Love or Breakup Letter?

To start this journey together, start off by
 choosing to write a love letter or a break up letter
 to your practice.

Purpose

Think about the relationship you have with your practice as if it is a certain person in your life — are you completely in love with what you do or are you in tension with some things that is making you dislike an area of your practice? 

What You’ll Need

  • Blank sheet of paper / lined notebook
  • A pen
  • 10–15 minutes

Instructions

  1. Spend no longer than 10 minutes writing your love or breakup letter to your practice. Write as if you are directly speaking to your practice.
  2. Think about the relationship you have with your practice as if it is a certain person in your life — are you completely in love with what you do or are you in tension with some things that is making you dislike an area of your practice? Write about it in either a love letter or a breakup letter.

Facilitator Notes

  • This activity can be done without running a workshop. You may need to write some extra prompts to help those who might be stuck on what to write.
  • It is encouraged that participants keep their letters and bring them to each workshop as they will be using them throughout the care workshops.
